Her
professional work began with managing health programs in
hospital and medical settings, and later moved into private
practice consultation with corporate executive and employee
groups, national and local health care organizations, athletic,
model and performing arts companies, health spas, schools
and educational organizations, community groups and individuals.
Barbara
is a contributing author in the reference textbook Health
Promotion in the Workplace. Over the past two decades,
Barbara has also authored programs specializing in compulsive
eating, weight obsession, and body esteem.
More
recently, Barbara has been teaching and has authored trainings
in the symbolic and archetypal meaning of food cravings and
menstrual disorders. Much of her work is based on the cure
and healing of her own eating disorder, extensive research
and clinical practice, as well as inspiration from many others
with whom she has worked and shared experiences. Barbara's
innovative approach has been featured on radio, television,
newspaper and magazines across the country.
Currently,
Barbara is on staff with PsychStrategies Inc., Quest, an Intensive
Outpatient Program for Eating Disorders, with the Integrative
Medical Clinic of Santa Rosa, with the Community for Spiritual
Living Well-Being Center of Petaluma, and Nutrition and Health
Consultant at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa.
Barbara is also a consultant in private practice working with
medical groups, individuals, and companies, in addition to
conducting workshops and research. Barbara is writing her
first book for the public, and co-authoring a children's book
on intuitive eating and natural weight, and resides in Northern
California, with her husband and two children.
