Barbara
has developed a remarkable process to reveal the hidden
meaning and purpose of your hungers and food cravings and
how to restore balance. Through a self-directed process,
using the actual foods you crave when you are not physically
hungry, and/or the foods that you restrict, you can learn
the areas in your life that are calling for attention, and
how food (or restricitng food) has been fulfilling this
function. Once your unique self-care practices are
restored, you find that your food cravings and symbolic
eating or restricting are no longer needed.
We
all strive to take care of ourselves in the best way we
can; yet the body attempts to attain a sense of balance,
physically and energetically, whatever our choices may be.
Decoding your hungers and symbolic food cravings can reveal
how these particular foods are one way that your body is
attempting to find balance in a certain area (emotional,
biochemical and physical or spiritual). Acknowledging
this can help us to see how the choices we make have been
supporting us on one hand, and also lend understanding,
acceptance, and self-compassion regarding our behaviors
that we might to change. By making new choices that strengthen
our intrinsic desires and values, and sustain our ability
to care for ourselves on all levels, we begin to experience
true nourishment. We begin to lose the desire for food (or
restricitn foods) to fulfill our emotional, social or spiritual
needs, as we learn to better care for ourselves. We no longer
"try" to change, there is no longer anything to
give up or struggle against. We become attuned to
our body, so that our eating reflects our body's need for
nutrients and our pleasure center's need for enjoyable taste
and satisfaction in amounts that create vital health.
The eating and weight "problems" diminish on their
own over time, because they are fundamentally replaced with
body-mind-soul-spirit nourishment that had been lost to
disordered eating.
